Pick your material, your cutter and your machine, and Machinist Calc gives you the numbers to dial in: spindle speed, feed rate, surface speed and chip load. It handles radial chip thinning properly, and it clamps the result to your machine's top speed — reducing the feed to match, so chip load stays where the material wants it instead of quietly dropping until the tool rubs.

The second tab sizes tap drills for inch and metric threads at any thread engagement, and tells you the nearest drill that is actually in your index rather than a decimal you cannot chuck.

Everything runs on your device. There is no account, no sign-in, and no server — the app has nothing to send and sends nothing.

Starting points, not guarantees: published speeds and feeds vary widely between tool vendors, and the right numbers for your cut depend on rigidity, work holding, coolant, tool coating and stick-out. Machinist Calc gives deliberately conservative starting values — verify them against your tooling manufacturer's data, start light, and listen to the cut. Machining is dangerous work: no calculator replaces guarding, eye protection, and your own judgement at the machine.
